I'l get right to it. The big news is that at the end of May, I will be taking on a position with Telefilm Canada as Indigenous Liaison and Content Analyst. The job is an exciting one and an important one for me, as someone who has been working for a long time to support other Indigenous filmmakers gain access to funding streams in Canada.
The significant downside is that it means I will be unable to make any work of my own in film and television for the foreseeable future. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this was an incredibly difficult decision for me to make, but I believe it is the right one for me and for my community of artists. For now, much of my energy will go into supporting the creative work of other filmmakers and creating easier access to Telefilm for Indigenous filmmakers. When I'm not doing that, I'll be working on new literary writing, learning my language, being a dad, and becoming the best bead worker I can be. Sounds like a good life to me.
